I quarried this stone from U.S. Gypsum Quarry in Anza-Borrego. This ancient ocean deposit has minerals including layers of iron and manganese in the sedimentary plates. You can the see the various mineral deposits in the layers and patterns of this sculpture.
This sculpture is attached to its based with a steel pin inside a brass sleeve. The top half can be rotated 360 degrees on its base for your viewing pleasure.
